Live at 'The Townie' - Mondays in August
Monday, July 12, 2010 at 7:11PM Olivia Pipitone will bring her band to the Town Hall Hotel, Newtown every Monday night in August.
Performing an especially low-down mix of 60's soul and rumbling blues, the band will feature Aaron Flower on guitar, Sam Boyd on keys, Jan Bangma on bass and Jacob Cook on drums.
“I'm expecting a particularly relaxed and friendly vibe and plan to take the opportunity to really open out, dig deeper and improvise more than I've ever done,” said Olivia.
Olivia Pipitone released her debut album Dirt Drenched Soul in a sold-out show at the Sound Lounge in February 2010. Featuring a gutsy selection of tunes spanning jazz, blues and soul, the album has received air play on 2SER, FBI and 2MBS and been bought by fans across Australia, Japan, America and Europe. The Newtown shows will run from 7pm – 10pm on Monday the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of August, at the Town Hall Hotel in Newtown, Sydney (‘The Townie’). The Townie is located next to Newtown train station at 326 King St.
The shows will open with a trio set of tender hearted ballads and cheeky jazz blues before Olivia brings the full band on at 8pm for the big soul numbers and rousing rhythm & blues.
All shows are free entry.
